Pennsylvania, Ohio and beyond.

This is your opportunity to preserve your family history, and read about your extended family in the book. The book is 8 ½ by 11 inches and is professionally published and bound. You will be pleased. Please share this with other relatives.

Chapter Contents

Chapter 1 starts with the earliest known McCrearys  who lived in the 1700s in County Armagh, now Northern Ireland  including old George McCreary who immigrated to Pennsylvania, and his wife Mary McQuown.  Their children are found in chapters 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Chapter 2 is Thomas McCreary & his wife Elizabeth Roberts and all of their descendants.  Chapter 3 is Nancy McCreary who married David Evans.  Chapter 4 is James McCreary Sr. who married Mary Holt, Rachel Westbrook Cole, and Margaret Clapp and all of their many, many descendants. Chapter 5 is Benjamin McCreary who married Deborah Mathews and all of their descendants. Chapter 6 is Rebecca McCreary and her husband James McFarland and their descendants. Chapter 7 is Elizabeth McCreary & her husband Alexander McFarland.  Chapter 8 is William McCreary and his wife Matilda Grant and their descendants. Chapter 9 is Sarah McCreary. Chapter 10 is Mary McCreary. Chapter 11 is what I call McCreary “leftovers” and is a collection of McCrearys who lived in the same counties as our McCrearys during the same time period but I can’t prove whether or not they are related. The Appendix contains letters, maps, migrations routes, 1901 McCreary reunion, coat of arms, etc.

Lastly, I have over 1000 photos and documents. Many of these I could not fit into the book but I have put all on a CD and every photo/document is labeled by name and chapter. If you would like a CD the cost is $10.00. This is optional.

The cost for the book only represents the actual cost of printing, binding, adding the photos, packaging, and mailing. All research costs such as copy machines, postage, travel to research facilities, paper, envelopes, ink cartridges, microfilm rental, photos, printing draft copies of the book, etc., I have absorbed. This book is a labor of love, not profit.

It would be nice to have a copy of this book in libraries throughout the United States where McCrearys have lived. If you would like to buy an extra book to donate to your local library, historical society or State Archives that would be appreciated. Several families may jointly make the donation. If you wish, I will mail the book to the library and explain you are the donor. Please advise me if you are doing this so only one copy will be sent to a library etc.

I will only order a few more books to be printed than I have actual orders for so this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to order one of these books at this price. Once the original order of books are sold the price will go up as charged by the publisher for ordering smaller quantities.

Comments

Here are some comments from purchasers of other books I’ve written—The Brueseke Family History, the Hecht Family History, the Bremer & Brune Family History, and The Torian Family History—

First I’d like to congratulate you on your outstanding book! I picked up my copies from my parents and was impressed with the size and quality of the work. Well Done! HO

We got the book a couple weeks ago and are really impressed. We didn’t expect anything like this. It’s almost like a novel. GGO

You did a wonderful job on the Brueseke book! I am learning a lot about my extended family that I never knew. The book is really nice and makes me proud. BB

The book arrived yesterday. Bravo. You did a great job. I especially appreciate the old German writing and word translations in the back.

The book is AMAZING! I can’t tell you how excited I am to have this information about our family and to know I will be able to allow my children and on and on to learn about their family. Thanks for your hard work on this, it is a great gift!   MB

My son was over the other night and couldn’t put it down. His three boys were so pleased to be in a real bound book.  FBD

May God richly bless you for the masterpiece you have compiled. Our children are more responsive to it than we have anticipated so enclosed is a check for another copy. We planned one for each of our four children but now we will have one for a grandchild.  DH

This month while taking care of my two grandchildren at their house, I read your family history book. I wanted to congratulate you on such a magnificent work. You are a very special person and I thank you for such persistence in your work. Gratefully,    GH
